Subject: The rise and fall of Blackburn Rovers

In the 1980's you would find,
The Rover's weren't one of a kind,
Like many other little clubs,
The crowds where big in the local pubs,

The turnstile queues where not that long,
When Uncle Walker came along,
With king Kenny's help and lots of luck,
They somehow managed to go up,

Promotion led to lots of bragging,
10,000 jumped on the bandwagon,
New `premier league` side to support,
Amazing just what can be bought,

When the league was won they got excited,
`Main rivals now, are Man. United`,
But in Europe it proved to be all a dream,
Beaten by Trelleborg - a part time team,

With one hundred million pounds of backing,
From that day to this there's one thing lacking,
Big names with big wages may play a part,
But, Blackburn Rovers have no heart,

But if you're a Rovers fan don't be a bore,
Fans of nearby clubs will know the score,
Don't blubber on our shoulders as we laugh with glee,
Because you've no monopoly on misery,

To the champions of  '95,
With Dalglish and Shearer on your side,
From the boys down the M65,
Welcome to the Nationwide.

ANON.   :-)
